North West Words 2018 Creative Writing Competitions for Young Writers sponsored by Eason

Short Story & Poetry Competitions

Entries are invited by writers for 3 categories…
1. Primary Schools.
2. Secondary Schools Junior Cycle (or GCSE).
3. Secondary Schools Senior Cycle including Transition Year (or A level).

Competition judge is Deirdre Hines

Short Story: Can be on any theme, maximum 1,000 words per story.
Poetry : Can be on any theme, maximum 40 lines per poem.

Entries should be accompanied by a cover sheet with the writer’s name, address, telephone number, school address, title of piece and category. Entries must be your own original work and not previously published. Entries cannot be changed once entered for competition. Entries cannot be returned. Judge’s decision is final.

Copyright of each entry remains with the author, but North West Words & Eason will have the unrestricted right to publish the winning poems & stories on its website and in press releases publicising the competition.

The winners of each category of each competition will receive a prize sponsored by Eason. A ‘ Young Writer of the Year’ prize will be awarded to one of the category finalists.

Closing date of the Competitions is 5.00pm Friday 23rd February 2018. Presentation of prizes will take place at the NWW monthly event on Thursday 29th March at 7.00pm in Florence Food Co. Main Street,Letterkenny.

Entries to Eason: Entries can be handed in to Eason Shops in Letterkenny Shopping Centre & Courtyard Shopping Centre
